What satisfies more than a hot coffee mug on a cold winter morning? If this is your idea of a perfect winter morning, you aren't alone. In the U.S., the population consumes more than 400 million cups of coffee every day. No wonder coffee lovers enjoy receiving their cherished drink as a gift. On many special occasions (Father’s Day, birthdays, anniversaries etc.) a nice-looking coffee gift basket is a great idea for your special coffee lover. While many gift centers offer such baskets for reasonable prices, the love and care you have for the recipient is best expressed when you make your own coffee gift basket.

Preparing Your Own Coffee Gift Basket

It's simple to prepare your own exquisite coffee gift basket, and it doesn't require hours to put together. The basket will essentially consist of coffee packs along with other coffee-related items of your choice. Plus, you'll want to add a little decorative flavor to the basket.

The foundation of your coffee gift basket is ... of course ... the basket. You can find a variety of baskets at almost any craft store, such as Michaels. You want to select a basket that's the right size for what you have in mind, and if you can find one already decorated, so much the better. If it isn't decorated, then you'll want to find a nice floral patterned cloth or sheet of paper.

The second step is filling the basket with coffee packs. Choosing your coffee flavors takes a special knack. First and foremost, it's helpful if you have a sense of the tastes of the recipient. However, don’t confine yourself to those coffees he or she consumes every day. Look for those rare brands of coffee your recipient enjoys but rarely drinks because they're either difficult to find or a little out of his budget. Vanilla and chocolate flavors can often be a safe choice, but don't hesitate to venture into the more exotic.

Next, you'll want to add a few beverage packs other than coffee (tea, cocoa etc.) as complementary gift items. If these are rare and exotic, your coffee gift pack will be near perfection. A good variety of coffee and beverage packs will add to the beauty of the gift.

For a gourmet, eating often goes hand-in-hand with coffee. Cookies, caramel corn and chocolates can be ideal items to add to your coffee gift basket. Honey sticks also make a fancy accessory to consider. And don't forget to add some flavored creamers, too.

To complete your coffee gift basket, choose a coffee mug and a teaspoon to be included. For an extra nice personal touch, have the mug engraved with a special message for your recipient.

Finally, seal the basket using gift-wrap and a satin bow. Add a personal card with your warm wishes. And that's it. You're all set. Your coffee gift basket is ready to go!
