Coffee has truly become the drink of choice for many Americans. There are more blends available today than every before, and more ways of brewing your coffee as well. In this article, we'll be focusing on the coffee pot, which is used for percolating your coffee. This is different from drip coffee makers, vacuum style, or espresso makers. Percolating involves adding grounds to a filter basket that fits inside the urn, then boiling the water on the stove for five minutes.

The Coffee Pot: A Conundrum Within Itself

There are so many different types of coffee pots out there that the search to find the perfect one can be quite challenging. After all, one does not want to spend lots of money on a coffee pot only to find that the coffee it produces is no better than dishwater. Luckily, the search can be easier if you understand what to look for ing a good coffee pot.

A coffee pot, known as the percolator, is perhaps the most well-known and widely used type of pot. Percolators work by having hot water flushed through coffee grinds repeatedly. This type of coffee pot works best for weaker types of coffee. It should be noted that coffee that remains in this type of pot for long can develop a rather bitter taste.

Another widely used coffee pot is the plunger pot (also known as the French Press). This type of pot is great for making stronger, more flavorful types of coffee, because it allows hot water and the coffee grinds themselves to come in full contact with each other. This type of pot is versatile, coming in a variety of different shapes and sizes. You can also find a variety of timers which allow you to control how long the coffee should steep within the water, thus controlling the overall flavor of the coffee.

Coffee pots are often not only used for making the coffee, but also for serving coffee. As such, decorative pots are a wonderful addition to any dinner party. Porcelain pots are a popular choice, because not only are they beautiful, they're also a great way to keep your coffee warm over a long period of time.

Indeed, a coffee pot can be a troublesome thing to buy (check below to make the process a little easier). However, one can easily find a perfect coffee pot at a local kitchen store or on the internet. Prices will, of course, vary depending upon the brand. When you taste a great cup of homemade coffee, you'll certainly know you've found the perfect coffee pot.
